As we have previously informed you, Europe’s transhipment ports continue to experience problems, which we regret that you are affected by. The situation started in October 2024 with an all time high in arrivals/departures (single month). Since then, the ports have been affected by a number of reasons, such as masking actions / strikes, lack of necessary terminal staff, major construction work at several terminals and that shipping companies are not allowed to enter and load / unload according to schedule, which affects established and proven infrastructure.
We have been told by the shipping companies that an improvement is expected in April, but unfortunately we note that new problems arise. Among other things, Eurogate in Bremerhaven announces that all loading / unloading on feeder ships will be canceled from April 17 at 22:00 until April 23 at 06:00. Furthermore, it is claimed that no other ports in Germany are able to receive extra cargo during this period, due to Easter holidays and reduced staffing levels.
As a result, cargo to/from Bremerhaven will be negatively affected and we expect a backlog when operations resume at the port.
We will continue to do our utmost to provide you with the latest information and you are welcome to contact us with any concerns.
Our opening hours during Easter holidays are as follows:
Thursday 17/4: 8:00-13:00
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday: Office closed
With kind regards,
FMS Sweden.
